In 2011 there were thousands of sweepstakes and contests available to win millions in prizes.

Many people took these prizes how for not spending a dime.  One of the best sites on the internet

for finding new online sweepstakes is a called Sweepstakes Advantage.  They have a ton of cool

sweepstakes to enter and the community is very friendly.  I started entering sweepstakes there

back in 1997 and the site just keeps getting better.

In the beginning when I first started entering sweepstakes there were not that many sites that even had

giveaways or gave prizes for free. Is soon caught on like wildfire though and the sponsor soon saw how

online sweepstakes could be a powerful tool to get people to check out their product online.  Do you remember

the 28.8 or 56K dial up modem? Well that was one of my first sweepstakes prizes. I was always kind of a geek

so I entered a U.S. Robotics sweepstakes to win a new “super fast” modem for my computer.  I entered not

even thinking I could or would win anything.  Imagine my surprise when I won not 1 but 4 new modems. I made

some family members quite happy with that sweepstakes prize win.

I was really hooked on sweepstakes after I won a few electronic gadgets.  They have always been expensive items

even back then and it was really cool to get them for free.  Remember the ipod when it first came out? The cool thing

about sweepstakes is that you can always find plenty of the latest electronics as a prize for free online. Fast forward to

today and you could probably find 100 sites giving away Ipad2′s . The iPad is probably one of the most sought after

sweepstakes prizes. It’s almost like winning a laptop. With the price of laptops so cheap now it’s just about the same.

Another cool think about Sweepstakes Advantage is tat you can do a keyword search on their website for just about

any prize you could imagine. Do a keyword search for “cash” or  “iPad” and you will see what I mean. Hundreds upon

hundreds of these can be found.  My latest challenge is to try and win a new piano for my son. He is a music student

and we can only afford to get him a small keyboard. If he had a piano that would be a big improvement in his ability

to practice anytime he wants.

Some people are amazed when I tell them what I win and how I win things. About 50% of people are skeptical that

you can win anything at all.  On SA they have a section called the Winners Circle where members post their latest

prize wins. You must see about 100 new posts there everyday!  This too is probably just the ones who take the time

to eve post about their wins. I like it when people post their wins because it give me hope and positive vibes to keep

going because just like anything else you need to try to win.  I actually belong to a club where a few of us sweepstakes

hobbyist get together and trade strategy and ideas each week.  Some of the members of our club actually do postal

mail in sweepstakes too. Before the internet that was the only kind of sweepstakes you could enter. I like online sweepstakes

better because they are free and you don’t have to pay for postage.

Well enough rambling on and I hope I inspired some of you with this blog post. Just remember like with every hobby just

keep entering sweepstakes and don’t give up and sooner or later you will win something.

We all know weddings are expensive and one of the most expensive parts is the engagement ring. If you win a car you really can say you made it.  I’d like to win a mini van because I feel I would get the most good value in that. I have a mini van now that is kind of falling apart.  I hate to buy new cars because they are such a money pit. They lose value as soon as you drive them off the lot and are so expensive to fix if something goes wrong.

Ford usually has some good promotions going on where they will give away a new car. I just don’t want some kind of sports car that will only seat 2 people. I need something that will open up in the back for storage and descent on gas. Something like a ford aerostar would be great. Do they even make those anymore? Probably not but it’s worth looking around and finding the right fit for your lifestyle.  If I did win a Mustang I would probably trade it in for a mini van! Huh.. I started out just trying a few sweepstakes to see how the this thing works and it really took off fast for me. I realize that isn’t the case for everyone. I think my first prize that I won was a candy bar. I was soo shocked and amazed that I won anything.

Each day I go to my favorite sweepstakes community called Sweepstakes Advantage and see what new sweepstakes that have to enter. I couldn’t believe it at first but they add like over 200 new sweepstakes every day. It’s really hard to imagine that companies are giving away that much free stuff. But they really are!

Now with this kind of hobby you really have to be persistent and just keep your head done submitting entry forms. Its really boring sometimes and its easy to get distracted. I will usually enter sweepstakes for an hour at a time and then take a break. I was reading yesterday that there are these people called high stakes sweepers.

I guess high stakes sweepers are people who pretty much enter sweepstakes for a living winning all types of high end prizes like cash, cars and trips. I’ve never won anything that big but I wonder how hard it would be to get there. This show High Stakes Sweepers will be coming on this Sunday night at 10 PM. I am getting ready with my notepad to become a student of the high stakes sweepers class.

I feel it can’t hurt to tune in and made learn a trick or two. It took a little faith to start entering sweepstakes in the first place so I am looking forward to another leap to big prizes. My fingers are crossed! I started out in the hobby with a candy bar sweepstakes prize.

Maybe I can end with a new car for my hard working wife. It would be really great to win something like that and make our life easier. I thinkl that would last at least 1 yearf in my house. Only kidding..

I’ve seen a short promo for high stakes sweepers and it looks like they are focusing on the people who enter sweepstakes as a occupation. There are very few people who are this extreme.

Most of the people that I talk to in the sweepstakes community enter sweepstakes as a casual hobby.  I doubt they consider themselves to be extreme. Just like with any other kind of prize win it gets people motivate to enter more and more sweepstakes when they start winning prizes. It will be curious to see how many continue to enter sweepstakes after the first week of trying.

Lots of first time sweepers give up on entering sweepstakes because they don’t yet have the prize to keep them motivated.  In the forum on Sweepstakes Advantage I even see some people who give up and then get a surprise delivery in the mail and start entering sweepstakes all over again.  For lots of people who are down on their luck or even home bound its a nice way to earn a little extra something. I hope the new show High Stakes Sweepers has a good effect on the sweepstakes entry hobby.
