There is a new television show coming to TLC called High Stakes Sweepers. The recent extreme coupon show was a success in this economy. The next likely spin off should be free sweepstakes and contests. Quite a few people in the sweepstakes community are talking about this show and what effect it will have. They hope that it will not hurt the sweepstakes entry hobby.
I think it will be good for the hobby as more advertisers will see that consumers really like sweepstakes. Hopefully it will mean that even more new sweepstakes will start as a result. I’ve seen a short promo for high stakes sweepers and it looks like they are focusing on the people who enter sweepstakes as a occupation. There are very few people who are this extreme.
Most of the people that I talk to in the sweepstakes community enter sweepstakes as a casual hobby. I doubt they consider themselves to be extreme. Just like with any other kind of prize win it gets people motivate to enter more and more sweepstakes when they start winning prizes. It will be curious to see how many continue to enter sweepstakes after the first week of trying.
Lots of first time sweepers give up on entering sweepstakes because they don’t yet have the prize to keep them motivated. In the forum on Sweepstakes Advantage I even see some people who give up and then get a surprise delivery in the mail and start entering sweepstakes all over again. For lots of people who are down on their luck or even home bound its a nice way to earn a little extra something. I hope the new show High Stakes Sweepers has a good effect on the sweepstakes entry hobby.
